Things I didn't know until I became a Stay at Home Mom

1. Stay at Home? HA!
2. You are #1 on every one's volunteer list because you"DON'T WORK".
3. You gotta love when people ask, "What do you do all day?" As if they really have time for that answer!
4. You don't get to shower until midnight (and only then, if you're lucky).
5. New clothes...not since the last new maternity shirt (with your first child!).
6. DooDoo under your fingernails is really minor and will wash right off.
7. Boys do wrestle 24/7. The WWE could learn a thing or two at my house.
8. Good furniture is really overrated. You don't really need a coffee table and the kids will just decorate (markers, ink pen, fingernail polish) your new couch!
9. Going to the mailbox is the highlight of the day. Contact with the outside world...!
10. Your first real complete thought comes only after the kids are asleep for the night (even then, they are subject to interruption from potty runs, bad dreams, water, can't sleep, etc.)
11. Keeping up with the pacifier and sippy cup all day is a major accomplishment.
12. Cutting fingernails and toenails is extremely painful!
13. Birthday parties are a COMPETITION.
14. The class your child is in will take 24 field trips a year. Of course, since you "don't work" you will be glad to chaperone.
15. A shirt/pair of shorts with only 1 stain, constitutes clean, only for the Mom. The kids must have clean, darling outfits.
16. Grocery shopping is a work-out. One buggy for the kids, one for the groceries!
17. A break is getting to grocery shop ALONE.
18. If you are waiting on a package, lay your kids down for a nap. The UPS guy will ring the doorbell as soon as they doze off. Waking them after a 15 minute nap insures an excellent afternoon.
19. Making important plans guarantees a child gets sick!
20. The maker of Happy Meal toys hates all parents!

Missing Sister??

What an eventful night... It is now 12:03am and Emily has been found!
OK, so she is a grown adult and is very capable of taking care of herself. But, tonight around 10:00pm we realized that no one had heard from her since early afternoon. Mom and Dad call to check in regularly and couldn't get in touch tonight. Thus a series of phone calls, text messages, e-mails and calls to her friends. Still no Emily! Maybe we watch too much FOX News, but panic struck. Where is Emily? Finally, we remember that Cousin Clair lives relatively close by. We call ( almost 11:00 pm and get her out of bed) and ask her if she has talked to Emily tonight. She says no and kindly offers to drive across town (at least 20 minutes) to check on Emily. Clair arrives and Emily's car is there, but still no Emily! So the knocking begins. After almost 30 minutes of knocking and yelling to identify herself (so Emily wouldn't be scared to open the door), Cousin Clair calls back and says, still no Emily. Next step, call apartment complex, have them page maintenance. The maintenance man will have to go the complex office to get a key, then over to her apartment to check on her. It is now midnight and we are certain Emily has been kidnapped. Cousin Clair returns to the door to start pounding again. Emily finally opens the door, very ANGRY, slightly confused and wants to know why Clair is visiting her at midnight. Phone calls begin again. Emily calls the parents to let them know she is alive and well. We quickly call to try to catch the maintenance man, before he ventures over to her apartment (we did catch him in time, thank goodness).

Emily is A OK, Daddy can finally sleep, Clair made it back to her home safely and we can finally get back to work. Enough excitement for tonight... No more FOX News missing women stories for a while.

Emily, we are glad you are safe! Go back to sleep. Don't forget to call and check in. We WILL track you down!

Yes, we do have Husbands!

If you read our first blog, you can see that most of our waking hours are devoted to our work and our kids. We just cannot take the day off if we have orders to fill, nor can we turn down the Booster Club, summer sports camps or pretty much any other volunteer work we are asked to do. We have also recently discovered that we love to ride bicycles. We are terrible and one of us wrecks every time we go for a ride. We actually rode in an organized race...that's a whole separate post for another day! With all that said, you can see that we very rarely spend “quality time” with our husbands. Did someone say Date night? HA!! Our "quality time" usually consists of a ten minute break on the porch during work or a Domino game (Rook, if we're feeling feisty!) on Saturday night. Rook games usually result in someone getting the silent treatment.
Seriously, our husbands are great! They love Daddy-duty and even let us sleep in on Saturday (unless we have 8:00am football, basketball, baseball or volleyball games!) TJ is our company computer guy and Keith is our company finance guy. Yes, they do have real paying jobs. We just added these for after hours! We couldn't do all this without them. Thanks guys! We love ya!
(Don't worry ladies, they do not pick up their clothes or load the dishwasher and they still buy most of our presents at Wal-Mart. But, they can quote almost every line from any Seinfeld episode and could give you the night's line up on the History Channel . That's talent! Hey, we take what we can get.)

New Note Card Designs!

It's official...we are now joining Blogland! (cheers!)
I really feel like I should say, "Hi, my name is Maggie and I'm addicted to other people's blogs." Liz used to make fun of my blog addiction. Now, she blackberries me to get updates on the blogs we follow. I think the addiction is mutual. Did I ever get an apology??

OK, we created this blog to showcase new products and designs (seriously!). We would also enjoy your input on our new products. As we started trying to compose our first post, we realized that 95% of our thought, time and energy, is spent on our children. Yes, the other five percent is spent on this business, usually between 10pm and 2 am. We love it. Sonic Diet Cokes and Hot Tamales and we can design anything! If we get off on the kid stories, hang in there we'll get back to new products eventually.
If you are browsing our blog and see something you'd like to order, just shoot us an e-mail, justforyou@fpunet.com. It will probably be very late at night, but we will respond.
